From the Pantry Shelf: June 2024
Note From Executive Director
The warmer months have arrived. This means many local farmers and home gardens are, and will be, in bloom. Every year the food pantry gladly accepts donations of fresh produce. It's a great way to help out our neighbors in need. Donations of nonperishables tend to drop during the summer months when our services are needed for those who have children on break from school. Consider holding a summer food drive with a theme: Breakfast Essentials, Snack Time!, or any other fun idea you may have. We truly appreciate our community for all your support. Have a great summer!
Volunteer Spotlight, Luke Score
What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering?
I think every capable adult SHOULD volunteer wherever and however they can. It is very rewarding to help those in need, especially helping individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. My favorite parts of volunteering are putting smiles on people's faces and knowing that we are making real, tangible differences in their lives and families by treating them with the decency and respect everyone deserves. My favorite memory here was receiving a BIG HUG from THE CUTEST toddler girl of one of four families that we support after I gave her and her siblings each a plush toy or yo-yo from the back room. This warms my heart now just thinking about it. I'll treasure this memory forever.
What do you do when you are not volunteering?
Nerdy me: I'm a Senior Regulatory Affairs Consultant for Medical Devices (ie- implantable brain stents, embolic and neuro-reconstruction devices) and In Vitro Diagnostics tests (ie- Covid tests), ensuring the safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance of high-risk, life-saving medical devices and tests.
Non-Nerdy me: I enjoy spending time with my 3 school-age girls, ages 8, 13, and 16, going swimming, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and playing music (bass, keyboard, vocals) with my friends every week out at the Old Schoolhouse studio, Skijoring and Skate(board) joring with my sled-dog Pippa around Lake George.

Treats “4” A Cause Donation Drive
Croix the Therapy Dog celebrated his 4th birthday by holding a Treats "4" ACause Drive at Meyer Middle School. Croix was a very good boy who supervised the entire event and even visited the pantry to let us see what a great job he did in getting donations for our furry friends.
