From the Pantry Shelf: April 2025

NCAA DIII Day of Service

The day before competing in the National Championship Tournament, the women’s hockey team finalists—UWRF Falcons and Amherst Mammoths—showed up in a different way. As part of NCAA Division III’s Day of Service, both teams spent an hour volunteering at the pantry—stocking shelves, sorting donations, cleaning, and even planting a fresh hydroponic crop. A true display of teamwork, both on and off the ice!

Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month

We’re shining a spotlight on the incredible work our volunteers do to keep the pantry running smoothly. Every Monday, a delivery from the St. Croix Valley Food Bank brings in 3,000 to 5,000 pounds of food—and our amazing crew is here bright and early to unload and sort it all. On top of that, they’re out picking up donations from local stores every single day. Thank you for your tireless dedication and the heart you bring to everything you do!

Note From Executive Director, Candice Andersen

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income individuals by providing emergency food at no cost. The River Falls Food Pantry receives 10 to 15% of distributed food through this program. We have been notified that recent funding cuts will affect us locally. The Food Pantry will continue to receive nonperishables; however, USDA allotments of milk, cheese, poultry, pork, and eggs have been canceled.

What does this mean? We cannot be certain of the future but hope the impact is minimal. We will do our best to offset the added expense without disrupting the ability to operate as an organization. Donations allow us to serve each of our neighbors across the community. Feel free to reach out to me directly in person, via email, or by phone, if you would like to help.

Donations Needed
